Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC)

Description

Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC)

It is a carboxymethyl derivative of cellulose and the most important ionic cellulose adhesive. It is white fibrous or granular powder that is odorless and hygroscopic. It is easily dispersed in water to form a transparent colloidal solution. It is mainly used as the viscosity increasing agent, rheological control agent, and filter loss reducing agent in drilling fluid, with strong suspension ability, efficient carrying of drilling cuttings, cleaning of drilling cuttings, stabilizing wellbore, preventing mud loss, protecting drill bits, and reducing mud cake thickness. While in the completion fluid, it’s mainly to control fluid viscosity, suspend heavy objects and carry fillers, preventing the fluid loss. It can be used as a substitute for guar gum in fracturing fluids.
